The purpose of the PNN is to inform Washington State pesticide users of registration
and label changes for products of interest to agriculture. The system does
this by distributing information to commodity/commissions, growers and grower
groups, Extension personnel, and others involved in Washington
State's diverse agriculture. The system currently distributes
information to more than 280 subscribers.
The PNN distributes information regarding:
- Section 18 Exemptions
Notifications are sent when new Section 18s are issued or when existing exemptions
are amended.
- Section 24c (SLN) Registrations
Notifications cover newly issued SLNs, as well as revisions and cancellations.
- New Product Registrations
PNN notifications are sent when new Section 3 labels are registered and when
new supplemental labels are issued.
- Label Changes
Significant label revisions (crops, signal word, ingredient information)
will trigger a PNN notification.
- Proposed Product Cancellations and Use Deletions
PNN notifications are sent when these actions are noticed in the Federal
Register.
- Miscellaneous/Regulatory Issues
This includes proposed risk mitigation measures, summaries of Reregistration
Eligibility Decision documents (REDs), solicitations for regulatory information,
and information about regulations relating to pesticide use. [Due to budget
cuts, from July 2002 through June 2004, regulatory information announced
in the Federal Register, such as REDs, was not
summarized and distributed on the PNN. The one exception to this is that information
on proposed product cancellations and use deletions was distributed during
this time.]
The PNN distributes information both by e-mailing PNN notifications
and via this web page. Copies of all PNN notifications, as well
as electronic copies of SLNs and Section 18s, are posted on the PNN web page.
Previously distributed PNN notifications can be searched by year, crop, and/or
keyword.
The PNN is a free service available to anyone interested in Washington
agriculture. The PNN is funded by the Washington State Commission on Pesticide
Registration and is operated by Washington State University.
